ASSOCIATION project, Sasani

2015

Early in my journey as a jewelry designer and maker, I realized that I was being drawn by something I can only describe ascultural memory. It was a feeling of closeness to the forms — the arts, myths, and crafts — created by our ancestors. The project"Association"first took shape in my mind and later revealed itself as a collection inspired by the motifs used in Sasanian art.

The Sasanians were the last pre-Islamic Persian empire centered in Iran; they built grand palaces, reliefs, and domed fire temples that went on to influence Byzantine and later Islamic art.

I then expanded the Association project into a series of group exhibitions — to experience this cultural memory in action and to be amazed by the works created by diverse artistic minds of the same heritage.
